The Australian Academy of Reiki is based in Melbourne, Victoria since January 2008.

It was founded in March 2006 by Reiki Master, Ingrid D'Andrea in Perth, Western Australia. 

The Australian Academy of Reiki's training courses are  facilitated  throughout the year in Melbourne, Perth and as of March 2009 - Auckland, New Zealand.



Reiki is an ancient Japanese system of healing where the initial teachings were based on assisting people along their spiritual path, though it soon became apparent that Reiki also had 'powerful healing benefits for the body and mind'.

The literal Japanese translation of the word Reiki is ‘spiritual energy’. This does not mean spiritual in terms of religion, it is spiritual in terms of universal life force - energy, something which all living things posses in order to survive. At the Australian Academy of Reiki we teach the traditional Japanese style of Reiki known as ‘Usui Reiki Ryoho’. This differs from the Western based styles of Reiki as the emphasis is more upon personal development and spiritual connectedness using physical and energy enhancing techniques. There are three different levels of Reiki taught at the Academy. These are Shoden/Level 1, Okuden/Level 2 and Shinpiden/Level 3. Click on Training to learn more about these levels.

In Reiki we use simple yet powerful physical and energy enhancing techniques to restore mental, emotional, physical and/or spiritual well being. Reiki is predominantly used with the hands on or just above a fully clothed body. It may commence or enhance a person’s journey of self discovery, personal empowerment and spiritual awareness.
