All of the information presented in the 3 levels is complemented with a comprehensive manual and upon completion of each level, students receive a certificate of participation.
At the Australian Academy of Reiki, we provide free on-going email and telephone support, and regular practice clinics for our students to enhance and further develop their Reiki skills.
Students of the Academy are able to review any of the courses previously attended for a discounted fee.
Shoden / Level 1 (first teachings)
Shoden is suitable for everyone. It is the Beginners course and is held over 2 days.
At this level students are introduced to:
During the two days, a majority of the time is spent on practical techniques with the students practising Reiki on themselves and others.
Students also partake in exercises to familiarise them with their connection to Reiki energy.
All students get to practice energy enhancing techniques to strengthen their ability to be guided by their intuition.
Okuden / Level 2 (inner teachings)
Okuden is suitable for students who have completed the Shoden course through the Australian Academy of Reiki or an equivalent qualification through another teacher. This course is held over 1 day.
At this level students are introduced to:
Okuden gives the students a deeper understanding and stronger connection with the system of Reiki. This is experienced through the exploration of mantras and symbols.
The main focus of this level is the internal integration of the Reiki energy for the student’s spiritual development.
Distant healing is taught as a method to send Reiki to a person or event in the past, present or future, who or which are not physically present.
The students also participate in more meditations and energy enhancing techniques, which are a continuation from the Shoden Level 1 course.
Shinpiden / Level 3 (mystery teachings)
Shinpiden is suitable for students who have completed the Okuden course through the Australian Academy of Reiki or an equivalent qualification through another teacher, or any Reiki Master/Teacher who is currently practising and looking to expand their knowledge of Reiki from a traditional perspective.
The duration of the course is 3 days.
This course is not only designed for students wishing to go on and teach, but also for those who have a desire to further develop personally and spiritually.
At this level students are introduced to:
Shinpiden is the level where students focus on self mastery and self empowerment through connection to the Reiki energy.
Shinpiden gives students an even deeper understanding of their integration with the Reiki energy, therefore providing a process for profound personal transformation and healing.

The Australian Academy of Reiki holds regular student clinics. The clinic is designed to allow students to refine their Reiki skills and increase their confidence when dealing with the general public in a non-threatening and guided environment.
This opportunity also incorporates time to practise meditations, energy enhancing techniques, group Reiki and Distant healings.
The clinic normally runs for 2 hours.
It is also a great way for students to stay in touch with fellow practitioners and share in each others experiences.
Students of the Australian Academy of Reiki attend the clinic for free. The general public receives a ½ hour complementary Reiki treatment upon their first attendance to the clinic. Any sessions booked there after, incurs a small fee.

Sporting Industry
![]()
At the Australian Academy of Reiki, our interest is in introducing Reiki as a complementary therapy in recovery programmes designed by medical teams for management of injuries acquired by sportspeople.
Our main objective is to educate and train practitioners in the sporting industry, including physiotherapists, chiropractors, doctors and nurses on the uses and benefits of Reiki in order to broaden their services with a more integrated, wholistic approach to patients/clients treatment plans.
As Reiki is simple to apply and has great versatility, it makes it accessible to all suitably trained members of the team, whether it is the sportsperson themselves or the medical staff assisting them.
Brief examples of how Reiki may benefit the sports industry, are as follows. For minor injuries, Reiki may provide the sportsperson with immediate alleviation of pain and discomfort, and minimise areas of swelling, bruising and inflammation.
For more extensive injuries, it may dramatically speed up the sportsperson’s healing capacity in order to reduce the weeks away from training and competition.
Over the years extensive research has been carried out into explaining Reiki from a scientific perspective. A well known scientist, James Oschman, Ph.D. has written many articles and books on integrating the use of science in explaining hands on healing therapies, in particular Reiki, in terms that medically trained personnel comprehend. James’ book ‘Energy Medicine in Therapeutics and Human Performance’ is a must read for all involved in this industry. For more information on James Oschman, visit www.energyresearch.bizland.com.

Reiki programmes are being integrated into hospitals on a global scale. Within the USA alone, these programmes are offered by prestigious hospitals such as Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Centre, New York Presbyterian Hospital and George Washington University Hospital to mention a few.
In Perth, The Solaris Integrated Care for Cancer (previously known as Browne’s Cancer Support Centre), has implemented Reiki into its integrative healing programme to assist people suffering from cancer and also for their carers. They have also assisted 3 other regional hospitals in implementing similar programmes.
Solaris has also received funding over the last couple of years to assist in researching the use of complementary therapies on their patients.
As directly quoted on the Sir Charles Gardiner Hospital website in regards to the research centre and the use of complementary therapies:
“SCGH has an excellent reputation as a research institution and has links with major teaching hospitals and research institutions across the country and around the world. Collaborative research with Edith Cowan University shows it is possible to assess the impact of these treatment modalities upon symptoms and quality of life in a scientifically rigorous way.”

Reiki may strengthen and support conventional medical treatments. For example in the treatment of cancer – it may minimise the side effects of radiation and chemotherapy. It has been reported that patients who receive Reiki before and after radiation or chemotherapy treatments may experience minimal if any of the side effects. This occurs because Reiki is a non-invasive, bio-energetic system. It allows the body to reach a level of relaxation where healing may occur on a cellular level.
Many practitioners using Western medicine are now beginning to understand that healing is not just about the physical body. Medical practitioners are taking into consideration the condition of the mind and spirit. It is the unison of body (physical), mind and spirit what makes people whole, it makes them feel complete and it is who they are. When a person is taken care of on all three levels by a medical practitioner, their ability to heal may be magnified.
